Here at Fairfield Industries, we are excited to announce that we are celebrating 60 years in business this year! And what a ride it’s been. If you indulge us in a trip down memory lane, we will elaborate on the start of Fairfield Industries and how the company has grown over the last 60 years.
Fairfield Industries was founded in 1961 in Fairfield, New Jersey by a man named James Foley. Foley patented and manufactured wire-pullers for the construction industry. Our owner, Daniel Clover can remember working in the shop in the early 70’s, winding the wire and assembling the wire-pullers.
A few years after its founding, ownership changed hands and the company was purchased by Daniel’s father Norvin Clover, of West Caldwell, NJ. Norvin was a man of invention, constantly tinkering with new designs and working on his next big idea. Clover’s first patent was a telescopic scaffolding that Fairfield added to the product line in 1968. Thus began our history of designing and patenting unique and useful products.
The 1970s brought on a new era when Fairfield began manufacturing manholes and vapor recovery manifolds. The development and patent of the SCM-5 in 1985, launched a decades long partnership with Hess and Sunoco gas stations as the product line expanded exponentially, adding spill boxes and fill ports for above-ground and underground tanks. Norvin once again charged forward in his innovation with his invention of the cam locking manhole.
In the 1980s, Fairfield began truck body finishing where our crew would receive new vehicles off the production line and finish with a customized truck bed to suit the needs of the customer.
As a long-standing member of the Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) since 1987, Fairfield has been an exhibiting participant in the NACS Show since we first attended in 1987.
In 1990, Daniel Clover became owner and further expanded the product line to include race car parts, all the while continuing to establish Fairfield as a brand name in the petroleum equipment industry. Shortly after the turn of the century, Fairfield expanded and relocated to Newark, NJ, and deepened the product line to include armament and munitions for the US military, marina equipment, and production of composite manhole covers. In 2014 Fairfield became a certified Hubzone manufacturer, and due to the company’s growth, expanded and relocated to Georgetown, SC in 2016.
Partnering with many of the industry’s most respected distributors over the last 60 years, Fairfield is proud to have earned the reputation of a trusted manufacturer our customers can rely on. Today we continue our dedication to producing products of the highest quality.
Thank you to all who have supported us and our business over the years! We at Fairfield Industries are incredibly grateful to have the privilege to serve you.
